After his first child was born in 2005, Jay jumped into the world of real estate investing. Despite several challenges along the way, he built a multiple seven-figure real estate portfolio. That portfolio helped him take a multi-year sabbatical to deal with heartbreaking personal tragedy when his wife passed away in 2014. How COVID-19 Killed Sudden Coffee: An Interview with Founder Josh Zloof
Thursday Apr 16, 2020
Thursday Apr 16, 2020
COVID-19 has the potential of permanently closing 30% of small businesses. One business where that happened is Sudden Coffee.
This powerful and vulnerable interview with Josh Zloof, founder of Sudden Coffee will shed light on the challenges that many small businesses face.
Per Josh:Unfortunately, the COVID outbreak hit us pretty bad and we're permanently closing Sudden :-/ I'm in the midst of it as we speak. For a little more context - we actually had our best revenue months on record in Jan & Feb, we were getting strong traction/ product market fit. However, we needed additional funding and feedback from the VC world was that they did not want to fund food manufacturing because it was a physical goods business. Amidst all of this of course, the outbreak happened.I'm planning on writing a retrospective on it once the dust settles - its a strange case to have 'product market fit' but are forced to shut down because its difficult to capitalize. Framework for Determining What Career Opportunities to Pursue - Josh tried out 10+ different business ideas over 1.5 years. It wasn't until he identified his values (Purpose, Community, Growth, and Excitement) and matched them to his ideas that he shut down all of the companies that didn't align and launched Sudden Coffee.https://www.suddencoffee.com/pages/products

Featured Interview with Romi Neustadt
Tuesday Apr 14, 2020
Tuesday Apr 14, 2020
YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL, JUST NOT AT THE SAME DAMN TIME. The New book from Romi: https://amzn.to/3aq64KO
It’s possible to have all the things that are really important to us. How do I know? Because I’ve done it, and I’ve made it my mission to help other women Have It All too.
Like you, I’m a lot of things. I’m John Neustadt’s wife. He’s a naturopathic doctor, an entrepreneur and an insanely incredible husband and dad who makes us laugh on the daily. I’m Nate and Bebe’s mom, and it’s the most important job and biggest honor I’ll ever have. These two precocious, vivacious, hilarious humans are growing up way too fast and teaching me as much (or more) than I’m teaching them. My family is by far my greatest achievement and the most important part of my All.
Bestselling author, entrepreneur, speaker, and life and business coach Romi Neustadt has a message for women: You CAN have it all--just not at the same damn time.Romi Neustadt is a mom of two, a wife, a daughter, bestselling author, speaker, entrepreneur, and coach. What's more, she's achieved these things without a staff of 10, the ability to sleep two hours a night or driving herself batsh*t crazy. She's figured out the key to having it all: Priorities, babe.In her second book, Romi provides a no-BS blueprint for women to figure out what to focus on and what not to. She explains why saying YES to everything and everyone really means saying NO to the things that matter -- to your goals, your dreams, and your true self. The key to achieving your wildest dreams isn't to downsize them. It's to embrace them more fully, and discard everything that isn't serving them. This book will teach you how to: • Zone in on what really matters to you, so you can ditch everything that isn't serving your dreams. • Recognize and embrace your true worth as a provider, partner, and all-around kickass human. • Say no to the millionth request from your kid's school for home-baked goods--without experiencing mom guilt. • Establish boundaries that stick with coworkers, friends, and family. • Ditch toxic relationships and the soul-sucking drama that accompanies them. • Stop feeling like an imposter in your own life. • Create habits that protect your time and energy. • Kick fear (of not being lovable, pretty, or good enough) to the curb once and for all.Written in the same down-to-earth, accessible style that made her first book, Get Over Your Damn Self, a beloved bestseller, this book is for every woman who wants to live a fulfilled, authentic life without feeling stressed and exhausted. Romi is living proof that it's possible, and you will be too.

Interview with Mitzi Perdue from Win This Fight
Monday Apr 13, 2020
Monday Apr 13, 2020
Mitzi Perdue has a novel way of raising funds for fighting human trafficking. She enables wealthy donors to convert high-end jewelry or works of art into cash that they can donate to the anti-trafficking organization of their choice. She’s doing this through an auction where the auction house has agreed not to charge a commission! The organization that is doing this is Win This Fight (WTF), And yes, we do know what these initials commonly refer to! (But you’ll remember this, right?)WTF enables wealthy individuals to auction high-value property (jewelry, works of art, historical items, airplanes etc), and the proceeds from the sale goes to the anti-trafficking organization that the donor chooses. The auction will take place in January of 2021, and the New York auction house that is doing this has agreed to forego the seller’s commission. If, to take a real example, a man has a million-dollar diamond and sapphire necklace, and wants to support his favorite anti-trafficking organization, he could turn it into cash by going through a jewelry broker. Typically, he’d have to pay a 40% commission. If he went to a regular auction house, he’d have to pay a 20% commission. The Win This Fight auction involves no seller’s commission and his charity would receive the full $1,000,000.Mitzi is looking for volunteers for this effort. Come join the nearly 500 volunteers who are working on this now! Mitzi and the others at WTF will do everything they can to match your skills, strengths, passions, and time-availability to the work that’s needed. If you join, you’ll meet inspiring and energizing people, you’re likely to be invited to exciting events, and most of all, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’re part of a global effort to combat one of the worst scourges that affects humanity: human slavery. As a nationally syndicated columnist, Mitzi has written more than 1600 articles, and as a nationally syndicated TV hostess and producer, she produced more than 400 half-hour shows. In 2018-2019, she had 85 articles published on business and family.
